Recipes listed below have been made in the past and may be repeated this term.  Unfortunately, due to time, we will not be able to make everything.  Students are encouraged to practice their skills at home. 

Foods 9 Breakfast Recipes

The one egg omelette seems simple because it only contains a few ingredients.  This one is all about technique.  Never forget to control time and temperature. 

This tasty Burrito recipe combines the goodness of eggs and black beans to create a savory breakfast.  Students selected their choice of flavours to add to the base.

Better than McDonald's.  This easy Breakfast Sandwich allows you to make everything in one frying pan.  Including toasting the English Muffin. Try wrapping and freezing which will allow you to eat this recipe on the go in the future. 

This recipe was a favorite in the Breakfast Project.  Unique, tasty and easy to make. 

Foods 9 Quickbread Recipes

Below is a collection of recipes that grade 9 students have made in the past and may make this term. 

Pinetree Cookies are an oatmeal  chocolate chip cookie.  Crisp on the outside and soft in the centre. 

These versatile scones can be made either savoury or sweet. 

In this pancake recipe we combined both all purpose flour with whole wheat.  This results in fluffy pancakes with the benefits of whole grains. 

Ponderosa Cake is a beloved UBC staple.  Tender banana cake topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon brown sugar crumble and chocolate chips.

Below is a collection of recipes that grade 9 students have made in the past and may make this term. 

A simple chicken noodle soup made with staple ingredients enhanced with the addition of oyster sauce and hot sauce. 

This recipe was selected by the Spring 2023 Foods 9 class as their favourite.

Foods 9 Yeast Bread Recipes

Make sure you knead your dough long enough to activate the gluten. 

All the flavours of cinnamon buns without the work to create the shape.  Uses instant yeast. 

Pronto Pizza

Easy to make basic pizza recipe. 

This roasted butternet squash pizza was created by Christa Bruneau Guenther, Indigenous Chef.  Butternut squash is the featured ingredient in a form recognizable by all.  What a great way to  experience a new vegetable.  You can view more about the creator of this recipe and her cafe in Manitoba in the following videos
