Today students receive the handout titled Accurate Measurement. If you were absent, please check the Foods 9 Binder for extra copies of the handout. We completed the notes section while I demonstrated the various measurement techniques.  We will have some time to finish this page tomorrow.

Students then went to their units to measure their ingredients to store them until Friday when we assemble and bake our Pinetree Cookies (and write our quiz).

Some feedback to students regarding our first lab:

  1. Mise en place (ingredients arranged & checked by teacher must be observed) Labelling our storage containers before cooking is part of mise en place. Review the Mise en Place Page if you are uncertain what tasks need to be completed.

  2. DISHWASHERS: Always fill the sink immediately when the lab starts to save time later.

  3. DISH DRIERS: Always count (sets of 4) and replace missing equipment.

  4. UNIT MANAGERS: Move the glass board and recipe holders when wiping your unit.

  5. SPECIAL DUTIES: Always report to teacher for an assigned task asap.
